What is First-Year Experience (FYE) program?

The First Year Experience (FYE) program provides exciting opportunities for you to make friends and connections through fun activities during your first year. The program provides useful information about support and services at ANU. Designed and facilitated by current students, FYE helps you navigate your university journey with confidence, supported by a community that celebrates inclusion and respect.

 

Who is FYE for?

FYE is for students who come from any of the below backgrounds or experiences:  

  • Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people  

  • experiencing financial hardship  

  • from a regional, rural or remote area  

  • from the first generation in your family to attend university

  •  

If this is not you, but you’re still interested in joining us, you are still welcome to register your interest. 

 

 

What does it involve?

Throughout the year, FYE aligns with key milestones in your academic journey, ensuring you have the support you need at every step. This will include: 

  • Social events to build community with students from similar backgrounds. 

  • Free memberships to and .

  • Free ANU merchandise, and other useful resources and tools.

  • Academic and professional skill development workshops.

  • Off campus excursions.

  • Tailored workshops for life skills like financial agency and job seeking.

  • Fortnightly newsletter to keep you connected on campus and in Canberra.

  • Networking and connection with later-year students, staff and alumni.

  • So much more!
