Accessibility understand the private nature of the information that may need to be disclosed by a student about their disability or medical condition, and we respect the privacy of that information.

Registering students will be asked to sign a form giving Accessibility permission to release information on a strictly needs to know basis to other areas of the University. It is necessary for the student to acknowledge this form in order for Accessibility to provide adjustments or services. Where necessary, Accessibility will advise other members of the University staff of the existence and nature of a student's disability. This enables University staff to assist in implementing any adjustments required to accommodate the student's disability or medical condition.

Accessibility will not disclose information to any person outside the University without specific written consent of the student, unless the University considers that disclosure of the information is required in the following circumstances:

• It is necessary to protect you or someone else from imminent danger,
• In response to a subpoena, summons or written demand from an administrative body, organisation or Commonwealth authority with the power to request the information,
• Where a law requires your personal information to be disclosed, such as for the enforcement of criminal law or if you have a health condition which must be notified,
• Where you are involved in proceedings against the University.

A&I will create a confidential file that will be stored securely for the duration of your studies.
