The ANU Council's sixth and final meeting of the year took place on Friday 3 December 2021.    

Despite the disruption and uncertainty caused by COVID-19 for almost two years, the University has continued to successfully manage the impact of the pandemic and is now preparing for the return of students to campus in 2022. 

Council membership
Council welcomed the new undergraduate student representative, Christian Flynn, to his first meeting.

Vice-Chancellor's Report
The Vice-Chancellor's report focused on COVID-19 impacts on the campus, the financial health of the University, implementing the new Strategic Plan, and the Chancellor's and Vice-Chancellor's 2021 Awards.       

College of Health and Medicine (CHM) - Transform - Business Case
Transform is a 10-year strategy to realise the University's ambition in biomedical, clinical, psychological and population health sciences. 

Transform has been developed over two years by CHM in consultation with the Senior Management Group and Council Committees, and was presented for approval at this meeting.  Progress will be monitored via reports being submitted to Council at six monthly intervals.    

Governance 2022 and other matters
Council approved the forward plan for 2022, including prioritising the wellbeing of students and staff, a five-year financial plan, the University budget for 2022 and further developing the Digital Master Plan. 

Council also considered other significant matters, including; the Performance Audit of the ANU produced by the Australian ¾«¶«´«Ã½app Audit Office and progress being made in respect of the University's re-accreditation application with the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA). 

It also considered insurance updates, several annual and cyclical reports required by resolution or legislation, and summaries of Council Committee and Academic Board activity following the recent cycle of governance meetings in November 2021.         

Next Meeting
Council next meets on Thursday 10 February 2022, followed by the annual Council Planning Days on 10 and 11 February 2022.
