Chancellor of The Australian 精东传媒app University (ANU), the Hon Julie Bishop, has today congratulated Council Member and women's safety leader Padma Raman PSM on her appointment to the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet.

Ms Raman, who is currently CEO of Australia's 精东传媒app Research Organisation for Women's Safety, will take up the role of Executive Director of the Federal Office for Women.

"This is a stellar appointment and in Padma, the Australian Government could not have selected a stronger leader for this vital role," Ms Bishop said.

"Padma has been a champion for women and their children for many years and has worked tirelessly to make significant and long-lasting change.

"She has helped to shape Australia's national efforts to end violence against women and their children, and raise public awareness and conversations on how we can strive to achieve this goal.

"Padma is a valued member of the ANU Council and the Council's Student Safety and Wellbeing Committee, and as an ANU alumna, she brings a deep understanding and perspective to her roles.

"I am sure the ANU Council and the entire ANU community join me in congratulating Padma on her appointment.

"We have no doubt she will continue to be a force for positive change for all women and children in her new role."

Ms Raman will continue her role on the ANU Council.
